I become a dog trainer to give people back their lives with their dogs. I wanted to show owners just how amazing of a bond they can form with their dogs through training. My drive comes from watching owners have that moment of realization that not only does their dog understand them, but they now understand their dog. My goal as a trainer is to not just train your dog, but also train you. I want you and your dog to have a lifelong bond, not just co-existing.
I have always loved working with animals and grew up always trying to teach my childhood dogs new tricks. I started training when I realized my childhood dog was struggling with dog reactivity and desperately need some basic obedience training. I threw myself into dog training books and was amazed at just how much I could do in a small amount of time.
Then the need for a service dog arose, after reaching out to many organizations and trainers, I found it almost impossible to get my needs met. That's when I met a wonderful trainer in Upstate NY, Kara Schaffer with K9 Addicts. I spent time learning from her by not only training my own puppy but also helping her with other dogs. After spending time learning from her I moved to New Hampshire and trained for a large pet corporation. However I found that I wasn't able to help clients in that space so decided to open Adventure Paws.
I now have successfully trained many service dogs, helped many owners train their own service dogs, trained basic obedience, and rehabilitated many reactive/aggressive dogs.
